“Ascension” is a photograph taken during the making of “Oceans Apart,” a short dance film by filmmaker Audrey Billups (pictured).

Audrey retrieved discarded/lost fishing nets swept onto the shores of Maui and created this hand-sewn garment that took 100 hours to gather, design and meticulously complete.

Underwater photographer Kelly Hsiao, captured these images during the making of the film, to be premiered in spring/summer 2022 on Maui.

A portion of proceeds will support local fishing net extraction and hard to reach coast cleanups in Hawaii.
