In our contemporary world, we’re always running from one thing to the next; rarely present or mindful of our experiences. So often we let ourselves become distracted by others' possessions and we lose sight of the small things that we only appreciate when they’re gone. But in this moment, while I was taking this picture, a feeling of genuine appreciation for what I have came over me. I was present in the passing moments along the East River beneath the Manhattan Bridge on a beautiful sunrise. In these moments we remember why we do what we do; why we’re here.
