On this cold, cursed night,
I’m looking in the mirror;
And it terrifies me when
What I see is a dark, grizzly shadow…
It’s evidently clear,
With no room for misinterpretation —
My eyes are playing tricks on me.
It doesn’t seem that
My instinct is wrong.
I have no reason to doubt;
I double-check anyways,
That this is purely a figment of my imagination.
Or is it
That the truth is undeniably macabre —
The worst case scenario,
Which would be
Quite frankly, shocking.
I look again, and it’s
Staring back at me,
The monster that I see.
Maybe I’m

Trapped with this horrific beast:
Blood-red eyes that pierce the soul,
Long, sharp fangs dirty with
Strands of unkempt, peppery grey fur…
What I see in the mirror scares me
Only because it reflects the grim reality…
