Abuk

ManekiNeko

Description

A sacred female deity from the ancient mythology of the Dinka peoples of Southern Sudan, Abuk is the patron goddess of women, gardens and women's right of self-determination. She defied her cruel creator god, who was starving her and her people, feeding them only a single kernel of grain a day, and learned how to plant and harvest that grain so that all would have enough to sustain them. She represents taking responsibility for her own life and well-being and the will to rebel against an establishment that doesn't serve the needs of her or the ones she loves.

This piece is a 1/1 edition carefully created by Maneki Neko. It began as a text-to-image collaboration with an AI to generate many graphic variations on a concept. These images were then curated and collaged and the result used to initiate more iterations and refine a style. It was finished by color and fine detail editing in Photoshop to create a piece with a coherent color scheme, expression of a theme, and packed full of intricate detail.
