The call finally comes telling me that the shoot has been cleared and will go ahead.
Taking anyone's portrait is about making them feel comfortable, and garnering trust - especially when time is limited.
I will be stepping into her world, her time and space, which I want to respect and acknowledge.
So I go to a boutique in Soho, and buy some scented hand cream as a gift. She opens it straight away. It breaks the ice, and gives us a focal point.
I'm nervous, but I take a breath, and tell myself I have this.
Somehow looking at her reflection in the mirror seems more fitting than looking at her directly. It is how I have always seen Nicole Kidman - within a frame.
Picking up the wooden box in the foreground she tells me it was gifted to her by her father, and is a keepsake she takes on every job.
Then she leans her chin on her freshly-moisturised hands, and looks up.
Perfection.
