The Dutch painter Albert Cuyp is best known for his landscapes. Cuyp worked in Dordrecht all his life. He painted his landscapes and sweeping river views for local clients. He is now seen as the most important Dutch landscape painter of the seventeenth century. After his death his river landscapes became popular. Great interest arose in Albert Cuyp's landscapes, especially in England. As a result, a large number of Albert Cuyp's paintings ended up in British and American museum collections.
Cuyp painted the painting View of Dordrecht around 1660. For my photo, I went to Papendrecht on the north side of Dordrecht at sunset and took a series of photos there to capture the image as Albert Cuyp would have seen Dordrecht at this time. The final photo is a composite of 4 photos with beautiful light on the quay in the golden hour. An Homage to the Dutch painter Albert Cuyp.
