“I like red, it’s my favourite colour to paint. Working on this collection, I pictured the soldiers in the past and present, fighting for the future of a country they believed in, risking their lives all for that promise. I thought it was interesting, though, that without any flags or insignia, all the soldiers looked the same: haggard, lost after seeing so much destruction. I wanted to capture that odd mix of resignation and despair, lined with the hope of a better tomorrow.”
