While San Diego is known for its amazing food, weather and culture, it is not known as a frequent storm destination. For example, this was the second time I had witnessed lightning, and the 4th time I had experienced rain in over two years of living here. To say the least, this was an extremely rare occurrence. After admiring the bolts for about an hour and feeling unmotivated, I flipped a coin to determine whether or not I would attempt my first crack at storm photography. Thankfully, fate decided for me. This shot is the pinnacle of my photography journey, combining a once-in-a-lifetime capture with so many variables needing to be perfectly in place. If you zoom into the individual windows, you can see the silhouettes of people in their apartments, with absolutely no idea what an incredible display is going on above their heads. My favorite part of the evening wasn't the shot, but my brothers reaction after showing him what I had captured. We had done it.
