Ashura is a mourning ceremony that commemorates Hazrat Hussein and his family, including infants, who have tortured to death centuries ago in Karbala, Iraq, in a power struggle. Thousands of people participate in these ceremonies and mourn in many countries where their followers live.
This photo is part of a documentary project about Ashura. While I was working on this project, I focused on portraits, details and bilateral relationships rather than generality, despite the large turnout of thousands of people.
She was looking back on her shoulder as if looking for someone in the crowd. Then she turned around, I prayed she would look at me for a moment, my arms were tired from trying to hold the long lens still, but I couldn't miss it. A few seconds later she looked at me for a moment and this photo came out.
