I have always been fascinated by the way we make our myths and heroes, the way iconography hides ideology. Here, I wanted to represent a saint from a future world where work is idealized, a Stakhanov represented with the codes of Catholicism. Its stigmata are not those of Christian martyrs, but wounds due to an unknown machinery. In this world there is no escape from work and salvation only comes through sacrifice to it.
