As I was getting ready to move to New York last year, there was a rather crazy week during which NYC was covered in heavy orange smog from Canadian wildfires. Part of me questioned the move, wondering to what extent NYC was an attractor for apocalyptic episodes.

This work is made using a hybrid algorithmic/digital-art workflow. Every element in the scene (foliage, wall, powerlines, etc) is generated algorithmically (via Javascript in the browser) and then layered together in a photo editing environment (Affinity Photo). Ample use is made of masking, color-grading, and blend modes in Photo.
