The world is structured and understandable only as long as we want it to be. As soon as we begin to question ourselves about our own nature, the world also begins to disintegrate into its constituent elements. And you no longer find peace in anything. Because anything is just a part of your illusion, your illusion is you and as long as it exists and there is something you can attach to it as a way of peace. But in the end you are only the point from which everything comes, and only this point, albeit illusory, alone is cognizable as an element of direct experience.
