The exhibition explores what it means to create using only the essential, showing varied approaches and unique interpretations of different artists.
When thinking minimalism, simple geometry, basic shapes, clean lines and limited colour palettes always come to mind. In contrast to traditional art forms that often represent external subjects, minimalist art directs attention inward, inviting viewers to engage directly with the physical presence of the artwork and their own perceptual experience.
“The pursuit of the essence of things, not the appearance.”
Minimalism explores the concept of “presence”; the idea that even seemingly simple geometric shapes, forms and colors can possess a powerful presence or aura when presented in a carefully considered context. This focus on presence challenges conventional notions of artistic expression and invites viewers to reconsider their understanding of art and aesthetics.
As someone who works with minimalist expression, my vision for this exhibition is to merge different styles from artists who, in my view, bring something beyond the material with their work. The artworks are created with diverse mediums by artists whose work might not always be categorised as typically “minimalist”.
The aim is to step out of the traditional meaning of minimalism with an experimental approach based on the concept but not limited to it.

The overall theme for José Gasparian works are mostly from nature, personal observations or inner self events that he might create something out of it. His work consists on the constant search for beauty and minimalism through bold color palettes, organic movements and geometric shapes. Heavily influenced by the light and space, minimalism and color field movements; while also looking into contemporary graphic and motion design space - his work is this constant interpolation of art and design. ‘Lightfall’ invites the viewer to experience the hypnotic motion of the light following its path.

Raphael's art celebrates nature by blending the familiar with the abstract. His works transform landscapes into ethereal, dreamlike compositions, encouraging new perspectives. Midori exemplifies this approach, depicting dark, rugged rock formations surrounding a luminous, neon-yellow river. The contrast between the alien terrain and vibrant water creates a surreal visual experience.

Dot is a minimalist abstract piece that magnifies a simple dot to reveal what our imagination finds there. It explores the idea of artistically zooming into basic shapes to uncover hidden complexities and invite deeper contemplation. Diving into abstractions like this is both fun and almost meditative. The lack of specifics, symbols, and a clear story is a feature, not a bug, as it evokes associations and allows for completely free interpretation.
