'TIDES' is the opening chapter of 'IT’S A JOURNEY,' an epic visual saga by video artist INA VARE that celebrates exploration, valor, and axe mastery. This first part features several GIF artworks, marking the beginning of the journey.
This long-term saga is both artistically and technically ambitious. It is intended to be cross-chain and experimental, filled with twists, turns, and surprises.
Backstory
INA VARE is an analog video and glitch artist who has been active for over a decade and involved in cryptoart for more than 3 years. Her approach combines technical and poetic elements, often incorporating performance art by using her images in her artworks.
During the winter of 2023, INA VARE created a conceptual video artwork titled 'BEAR SERENITY', featuring her first appearance with an axe. The artwork was created for 'BITCHES, BUTCHES AND BEARS' curated by OONA and SamJ, and minted on CampFire (Avalanche blockchain).
In December 2023, using bits of the same footage, INA VARE created a meme artwork related to the #TEZPOLE trend and minted it on the Tezos blockchain.
It's safe to say that from the very beginning, the use of AXE by INA VARE has been present across different blockchains and associated with humor, poetics, and social commentary.
THE JOURNEY
As a project intended to be cross-chain, the first mint, titled 'THE TIDE IS COMING,' occurred on the Tezos blockchain on June 7, 2024, and was auctioned as a single-edition NFT.
Now INA is bringing the saga to the Foundation/Base, presenting 3 new artworks in continuity with the previous one.

THE ART
These three artworks depict the arrival of the main characters at the sea.
INA describes it as a sea of opportunity that is cold and salty. There's not much to do here, so it's a good idea to practice some axe moves in the calm and chilly air.
Now INA is ready to venture forth and see how far she can wade into the endless sea of saltwater.
Her heart is courageous, and her feet are wet.
