Alone With These Thoughts

This series delves deep into the human psyche, exploring themes of self-identity, grief, self-loathing, mental health, and unfulfilled love. Each piece in this collection serves as a window into the inner struggles that many face, reflecting both personal and societal challenges. Through powerful imagery, this exhibition offers a raw and unfiltered look at the battles that shape our existence, encouraging viewers to engage with the complex and often painful aspects of the human experience.

Alone With These Thoughts invites you to step into the mind of the artist, who masterfully captures the emotional turmoil of everyday life through digital art. The canvas-like textures give the digital works a physical appearance, adding a layer of tangible reality to the deeply emotional subjects portrayed.

"My works are fully digital and 100% made on Photoshop. To ensure uniqueness and avoid issues with references from other artists, I use midjourney prompts and recreate from scratch to my taste via Photoshop. I make my works appear physical, although digital, by using an 'Aaron Griffin' brush set, canvas-like textures, and grunge textures."

"All of the artworks were inspired by personal experiences. For instance, 'What Could Have Been' was drawn from personal experiences, having lost a dear one on July 5, 2021. My best friend at the time. A recent song titled Meet You at the Graveyard by another good friend sparked that memory. 'Mood Swings' was inspired by a recent experience where I couldn't make a decision that would in turn affect the course of my life. That feeling of confusion inspired the art."

"I've received DMs from people saying that whenever they feel down, they look at my art and feel better. I'm in a far better place mentally now, so these artworks are like a window into my past. I hope when people look at them, they feel better, like a drug to their pain. I hope my art affects a larger audience in the future. This is why I create."

"For the color, it just comes. The only time I was 100% intentional about my color palette was with 'Mood Swings' and 'What Could Have Been', I wanted to really create and portray that moody feeling. I thought green would be a very good color to use in both instances. As for the visual elements, I'm a conceptual artist, so I pick whatever visual elements I'm to use. Every single detail, writing, and “arts in art” is thought of before creation commences."

Curator's Statement (SierraRenee Ayomikun Folashade)

"We hope to offer a sense of solace to those who view the works, much like the artist's own experience of finding comfort in creating them. These artworks are a window into the past, a testament to resilience, and a source of empathy and understanding. Reflect on your own inner battles and find a sense of connection and healing through the art presented."
