We live most of our lives drifting in the uncertainty between phases of determinism. A rapidly ever-evolving world causes scrutiny of reality, as our environment morphs, decays, and reinvents itself.
Who are we? What is our place - in a place that keeps changing?
What is real?
What will endure the brutality of time as a symbol of continuity?
Is all materialism an effigy to our transience?
Inquiries with seldom closure. All are invited to reflect, with this exhibition as an unoccupied space for thought.
An elusive skyline, for a city that will never be caught. We look to the sky for normalcy upon shifting grounds.
Technological advancement has made us alien to ourselves. And we cannot even fathom how our futures selves will be so distant from our present selves.
Bloody red, crimson eyes look upon the departing sun, bleeding its final rays upon the darkening horizon.
On the brink of climate collapse, we look to find solace in the beauty of our own immolation. Alas a phoenix needs ash to rise from.
Television static, piercing through the silence. Don't blink, don't believe your eyes.
Handheld, addictive. This is how our days are toiled away in the information era. Encased in screens, embalmed underneath pixels.
And we can no longer believe a word we read, an image we see.
And so we rage and we riot.
Against systems, against institution, against sanctity.
Until our screams are heard no more in the aftermath.
And we are left Half Awake At Dusk.
About the Artist
I've always been a dreamer, and believed that imagination and inspiration are humanity's greatest gift.
In everything I do, I look to spread and engage this feeling, so we can all dream a little bigger.
Raised under the scorching heat of Phoenix, Jeffy Yu grew fond of art as a channel for authentic expression at a young age. Growing up, he was exposed to a variety of mediums, but never resonated closely to a singular option. Life itself became a journey to finding the perfect canvas that would host his artistic voice.
Recently, he has been experimenting with multi-medium productions, discovering greater passion in the homogenization of various styles. With a professional background in software engineering, he had a natural migration towards digital creation, maintaining the same curiosity in coalescing distinct technologies into a one piece of art.
Jeffy Yu now resides in San Francisco, constantly inspired by the vibrant culture of arts and technology embodied into a living city.
