A symbol of resilience and resourcefulness: The ultimate lifesaver during tough times.

Imagine the broke college student, the couple barely scraping by with their debts, the security guard working the night shift, the hustle of nurses in an emergency room, and even the men behind bars; they all have a story behind this handful of colorless noodles, with a peculiar smell, served in a foam container. That’s DOPE SOUP.

Although it was around a year and a half ago when I first minted the pixelated art of DOPE SOUP, that’s not when the original idea was born, but rather in mid-2020 when I started a small T-shirt business.

With DOPE SOUP, I want to pay homage to all those moments when these soups, with their simple yet comforting flavors, helped me get through the ups and downs of university life, and even today, occasionally, they still do. Many times, creatively, I would take leftovers from the previous night’s dinner, some vegetables on the verge of spoilage, a piece of chicken, corn, herbs; and anything that could add flavor and color, helping me get through the day.

I want to expand that creativity and, artistically, blend the most diverse elements, incorporating aspects beyond just food – embracing everyday life, social connections, and cultural references that resonate with everyone.

Here’s DOPE SOUP, a gesture of survival, solidarity, and the little joys that keep us moving forward.

My expectations for this project are high. Very high! I want this project to evolve from a collection of NFTs to something more at some point. But I’ll talk more about this in the future. At the moment, my goal is to prepare a new one every day for a whole year. It’s an ambitious goal, but I believe I can do it.
