Where Dinosaurs Walked
For millions of years, the Triple Junction in the American Southwest has undergone great changes, leaving the extraordinary landscape we see today. Three physiological regions, The Mojave Desert, The Colorado Plateau, and The Great Basin all come together to form ancient reminders that jut from the Earth. Wide open skies cast deep shadows on the memories of these ancient events. The winds blow through the canyons as a constant reminder of change. Remnants from Beast and Human speckle landscapes colored with various hues of deep oranges, blues, browns and greens that shift with the southern light. These provinces spark the imagination with wonder and are at the threshold of an unforeseen future. Layers of sediment reveal Dinosaurs and their tracks, a hopeful sight held within our childhood hearts. Resilient flora and seldom seen fauna adapt or disappear in these intertwined landscapes of natural creation and man-made spectacle.

This unique environment, with its aged tales, reveals a past we still have so much to learn from, and an uncertain future. From the Hurricane Fault Line comes, “Where Dinosaurs Walked”- A journey guided by reading the landscape, research, and quiet observation. The spectacular beauty of the region is overshadowed by the quickening of unsustainable expansion.
Photography helps to preserve these memories we experience with awe that have stood the test of time. This form of documentation may become extremely important for our present moment in history and of the world we inhabit. There are parallels to be drawn from the chipping away of this profound landscape and the future of this exquisite medium.
