Each month, Bright Moments invites artists to create an open-edition collection, providing an accessible way for new collectors to mint generative art.

For the month of February, Bright Moments selected four generative artists living in France - Julien Gachadoat, William Watkins, Nicolas Daniel, and Eliza Struthers-Jobin - as a way to celebrate the Bright Moments Paris event. All four collections are available to mint until the end of the month. Hosted on Highlight, powered by Base, and exhibited on Foundation, minting IRL during Bright Moments Paris.

A circle of variable radius and several rectangles form the structure on which the “Orb” series is based. Each work is formed by a weaving of lines based on the interactions of these geometric elements. The rules of spatial construction are gradually revealed, through the emergence of patterns and vector tensions defining an interior and an exterior. 

The series is built as a collaborative experience, each batch of 180 compositions will produce an animated loop, the diameter of the circle modulating synchronously according to the iterations.

Julien Gachadoat creates unique art with algorithms working with the emergence of abstract form. Combining monochrome, geometric shapes, he plays with repetition, using random operations to generate an element of surprise. By printing unique pieces with a plotter, he creates a link between text and code, between computer and pencil, and between the rigour of code and the poetry of art.

Compression is a visual interpretation of stress or anxiety by portraying it as a physical ball inside the belly.

It can evolve into a variety of forms symbolizing different degrees of tension. Sometimes familiar silhouettes emerge, as though embodying our inner struggles.

Two main visual themes are used: rock, to represent this ball of stress as being very hard, and calcifying inside the belly, and water - introduced by using caustics - to support the feeling of being underwater and lacking air when going through anxiety.

This series also delves into my personal journey for stability and navigating the experience in dealing with this emotion.

William Watkins is a former software engineer who transitioned to generative art after years of exploring creative coding as a hobby. He enjoys experimenting with diverse algorithms and techniques, ensuring a cohesive aesthetic in his work. William focuses on depth and textures while treating subjects that are very personnal. Whether abstract or figurative, his creations are sometimes almost photographic.

System 1 is a generative growing system, inspired by natural and urban landscapes, that creates a unique duotone composition from thousand of lines.

Nicolas Daniel is a French artist based in Nantes who expresses his creative vision through code. With a passion for digital artistry and a background in computer science, he explores the surprising possibilities of collaboration with machines. His work spans various mediums, including screens, prints, plotters, and projections.

Resonances is a generative sound sculpture series that contains no audible sound. Instead, resonant frequency layers carve out shapes in 3D space, revealing the nuances of sound as a purely visual experience.

Complexity is based on frequencies. Pattern tones can be thought of as the different 'musical notes,' while tone intensity can be thought of as the volume for each pattern tone.

Each piece is in gentle, perpetual movement, whose inner patterns reveal and conceal themselves depending on the perspective from which the artwork is viewed.

There are 7 color palette - each piece's reveal begins the color cycle at a different place on the palette's spectrum, slowly cycling through the full range.

Eliza Struthers-Jobin is an artist and programmer from Montreal, Canada, currently based between Paris and Barcelona. Fascinated by the influence that programming and algorithmic thinking have on the creative process, Eliza has been creating artwork with code since 2015. Her work is experimental, mediative and rhythmic, motivated by a continuous cycle of exploration and unexpected discovery.
