Three years ago, on April 3rd 2021 I minted my first NFT. My first NFT was also my first 3D animation. But my story, Boxhead's story started much earlier... (read below, but first let's talk about this exhibition).

For this exhibition I have created a triptych named THREE.

Inspired by Hieronymus Bosch's 'Garden of earthly delights', remastered in the innocent ways of Boxhead, THREE shows 3 stages of my evolution in the space and my growth as an artist.

One 1/1 animation and 3 Timed Editions compose this exhibition.

The animation shows all 3 pieces of the triptych while the timed editions are of each part separate.

A signed A2 giclee print of the whole triptych will be raffled between all bidders of the 1/1 and holders of the editions.

Throughout the years, my style and the way I represent Boxhead has evolved greatly, I’ve always enjoyed experimenting with new mediums, from sculpting and art-toy to garments and animation.

On this triptych I believe I have reached a level of creative fulfilment I have been seeking for the last 3 years since immersing myself in the world of 3D.

For the first time I have hand painted all the textures appearing in the piece. This technique has allowed me to get closer to my painting background and to translate my style in 3D in a more personal way, achieving an illustration type of look.

The scenes depicted in these artworks are a representation of some my experiences in Web3 in the last 3 years.

The excitement, the risk taking, the friendships, the challenges, the uncertainty and the JOY.

And the hope, for a better tomorrow, for a world with more compassion, more empathy and filled with better opportunities. The dreamers are taking control.

Now back to Boxhead's story, it was 2009:

One night in bed, as I was about to fall asleep, I envisioned a little girl in a white dress running... with a cardboard box on her head. I quickly left my bed and did some half asleep sketches in my book.

The morning after I continued evolving the character. I gave her a name and Boxhead was born.

I have been drawing since I can remember, there was something in this little character that resonated with me more than any other drawing I had ever done.

It was a time when I knew I had to leave, I had to escape, but I also understood that no matter how far or how fast I went, I will always carry some things with me. That part of myself that no one will ever know, my deepest thoughts, the deepest ‘me’.

Something that will forever be with me, all tucked in, contained in a box.

Since that day, Boxhead became the centre of my art practice.
