These works are a celebration of youth at its most gloriously defiant, even as the powers that be seek to deface it or dim its splendor.
As such, it speaks to the fact that young people are not in thrall to the past but in bondage to it, which is a terrible weight to carry or dig yourself out from under.   
Also visible here is the detritus dragged along in the past’s wake, the wealth accreted by earlier generations, and the infernal tasks that same wealth still performs to this day.
