Luggard Road offers spectacular vistas of Hong Kong’s Victoria Harbor. I went there one morning in 2018, ecstatic to fulfill my cherished dream of capturing the cityscape. To my surprise I was instead greeted by thick fog; the only signs of the city below were the faint glow of diffused light. Downcast, I turned back but then the layers of trees peeking through the fog beckoned to me. My instinctive reaction was to shoot them and, on hindsight, I’m glad I gave in to my gutfeel.
