'Screen Test (Despina)' by Brian Calvin takes as its subject one of his previously painted portraits. The title refers to Warhol’s silent short film portraits made in the mid-sixties. Although occasionally making brief eye contact with the viewer, Calvin’s subject remains distant, evading any narrative. Brian Calvin's work can be found in numerous public collections, including the LACMA, the MOCA and the Aïshti Foundation, among others.
