There are many unmarked graves in the mortal world. From the unnamed soldier laying on crow-infested battlefields to the farmer who happened across unkind roads and deals, there are souls who are unable to make peace— and by being unable to make peace, they wander. The wanderers become strangers, and strangers become strangers to themselves, having no recollection of who they were when they were alive. The strangers, faceless souls come to Akane, the Kami of the Forgotten, like moths attracted to light. They seek her for only she can help them recover their memory. Wearing her red mask, she changes into different people, voices, and personalities in the hopes that it may trigger some recognition of a familiar face to someone in their past. Her art of prying with the right questions leads to the answer— an answer that makes them forgotten, no more.
