Tsuinashiki is a ceremony for warding off evil in which a hososhi (priest) exterminates demons that bring disaster.
It used to be held at the imperial court during the Heian period and is the source for the current Setsubun.
Setsubun is a ritual held every year on February 3rd or 4th to wish for health and happiness.
During the ritual, people throw beans while shouting “Devils out! Fortune in!”
