Along with winter came its queen, Marzanna. But, the lady of death disappeared with the arrival of spring.
Marzanna closed her eyes, and her thoughts had already turned in only one direction. The harsh winter was passing into oblivion. She knew that in a while, she would plunge into the river and wait there for the next freeze. In her hands, she held a red rowan tree. Her hair was entwined with a garland of dry twigs.
Marzanna, the goddess of winter and death. Beautiful and dangerous. She was already hiding under the surface of the water.
