Cosimo di Giovanni de' Medici (27 Sept 1389 - 1 Aug 1464) – Lord of Florence
Cosimo established the Medici family as effective rulers of Florence during the Italian Renaissance. He was named Priore of the Republic of Florence, following that acting as an ambassador for Florence, demonstrating a renowned prudence. The florin, issued by the Medici bank, became the preferred currency for business throughout Europe during Cosimo's prime.
He expanded the family’s interests into artworks significantly with > 600,000 gold florins, ~$500 million inflation adjusted, on art, learning, architecture & culture. Including Donatello's David, the first freestanding nude male sculpture since antiquity.
Cosimo’s pendant is said to carry an ancient secret around a frog + 3 character symbol. As the Medici palle (balls) on their coat of arms, have a hidden meaning representing coins. Cosimo was a man of many secrets, with some still yet to be revealed soon.
