As time stood still, the noise of my mind began to quieten into eternity. The stars slowly dissipated while hues of purple began to ignite the sky. Although I began to feel the mental and physical effects of the altitude and dwindling oxygen, I couldn’t help but stand in awe beneath the Everest Massif.
Travelling to Nepal was like an exhale that I didn't realise I needed. Everyone I met along the way had their reasons for hiking these mountains. I just wanted to see and feel life differently. I could keep on trying to run or I could use it to fuel ‘my why’. It wasn’t about reaching base camp, it was about experiencing and seeing how the sherpas flowed over the mountains. How peaks towered with stature but grace, how the glacial rivers flowed beneath wooden swing bridges, how the turbulent weather left our skin blistered and how the long days of walking would always finish to gentle evenings spent huddled around the wood burner.
