The wave photo:
A beautiful morning at Teahupo’o, a village on the southwestern coast of Tahiti famous for its reef breaks. The early morning sun rose over the Tahitian mountains and lit up the waves. The light produced a very detailed photo filled with contrast and many layers of depth.

The whale photo:
A photograph taken along the east coast of Tahiti on a day where the water was crystal clear. As the sun shone through the surface and filled the underwater scene with light rays, this curious yet shy calf approached the surface to breathe.

The edit:
Light gives life to the Earth and its inhabitants. It is also one of the most important factors to consider when photographing and editing. We wanted to explain the importance of light in this edit. Blending the two photos, detailing the subjects and creating mood, it all relied on lighting. A photo does not always need color but every photo requires the right balance of light.
