Areopagitica is a speech given by John Milton to England’s parliament in 1644 and is among history's most influential and impassioned philosophical defenses of the principle of a right to freedom of speech and expression.

The Red Balloon is a 1956 French film directed by Albert Lamorisse. The 34-minute film follows the adventures of a young Parisian boy who befriends a sentient red balloon and orders it to “OBEY” him. The balloon submits because it loves the little boy. The film portrays the innocence and hope of childhood and the cruelty of those who wish to destroy it.

Street artist Shepard Fairey used an AP photograph by Mannie Garcia to create the famous ''Hope'' campaign poster for Obama’s 2008 campaign. Fairey is also known for using the word OBEY in his street art.

The point of the original speech, film, street art, and political poster all unite in my playful parody. The people's right to ask, seek and tell the truth publicly in art and speech must not be censored.
