This artwork is part of 'Trashed', a series of site specific interventions about society's relationship with trash. In 2016 I collected trash around NYC, painted it gold and left it back where I found it. It was then collected by the NY Sanitation Department.
This image became the infamous 'Gold Trash Bag Meme' with the tag line: 'When you're trash but you're still better than everyone else'.
