"Nigredo & Albedo" is a methodical transition from winter to summer - using seasonal change as a visual metaphor for the alchemic relationship between light and dark and the transformative nature of art and self.

Latin for "blackness" and "whiteness" - Nigredo and Albedo, respectively, are also the names of the first two stages of purification in the Great Work - the alchemical process to produce the Philosopher's Stone, the mythological substance used to transform any material into gold.

Commissioned by fellow artist Vormwelt, "Nigredo & Albedo" meditates on a simple truth: that art and artist are mutually inclusive - visible transformations in the art reflect invisible transformations in the artist.
