David Kordansky package, 2021, JPEG, 4000 x 6016 Pixels 300 Resolution (11.1MB)
A rectangular USPS media mail package hangs on a wall painted a warm shade of white. The translucent 1 ½ inch tan packing tape has been manipulated in Adobe Photoshop to create an iridescent surface that folds over 3 corners of the box. The top right corner tape application sticks straight up and is referred to as a bunny ear. Due to its stickiness and loose, carefree application, there are several separations between the tape and the box. These air gaps are reminiscent of drapery. The object as a whole suggests a minimalist painting, specifically one by Anne Truitt. A sealed plastic pocket affixed to the front of the box contains packaging information. The paper label has shapes, barcodes, and text describing the point of origin, delivery address, barcode, SKU numbers, weight, dimensions, and other information used to guide the package to its rightful destination.
