While on assignment in Cairo, our host took us to a park in downtown Cairo to watch the sunset. I love the simplicity of this image and the quiet moments shared by the community. This image was created several years before the Arab Spring rocked this entire region. When I look at this image, I see the fragility of our shared human experience and how quickly reality can change. But I'm comforted by the hope that many of the people in this image will still have this public space to sit and enjoy the sunset. For one constant in our ever changing and chaotic world is the movement of the sun and our ability to be still and absorb such beauty.
