In February 2011 I photoshopped a pair of glasses onto a still from the 1989 animated film The Little Mermaid. The hipster mermaid macro quickly went viral, fueled by Tumblr, Reddit, meme generator sites and '90s Kid nostalgia. The meme and subsequent Twitter were featured in BuzzFeed, Time Magazine, New York Magazine, Playboy and other outlets.
