Zaal is an albino hero in Shahnameh Ferdosi, he is the father of Rostam who is the main hero and warrior of Shahnameh. He is the son of sistan’s king and in one of his journeys to Kabul he meets Rudabeh the daughter of Mehrab, king of Sistan, and fell in love with her.

One night Rudabeh gives her tresses to zaal as a rope and he climbs up the wall of the castle by that.
They are in love with each other and get married with each other. Rudabeh is one of the most powerful women of Shahnameh.
