Last year I moved away from the home I shared with my parents.

As is to be expected, the joys of my independence did not absolve me from missing being away from my family.

What I did not expect however was spending the uber home after my first market trip bawling because of how much I missed going to the market with my mum.

The smells, the haggling, my mum yelling at me to stop bringing out my phone from my bag. A trip I was always happy to avoid in the past, was what finally broke me.

Creating the textures for this piece and capturing my feelings of nostalgia, was no easy feat and it is the longest I have worked on a piece till date. But encapsulating that feeling in art was a necessary process in coping and moving forward with a new chapter in my life.
