This image is a portrait of Archimedes’ ghost on 80-column IBM punched cards. Introduced in 1928, this type of cards became very widely spread. 80-column IBM punched cards were used until as late as the end of the 1970s and surely were the face of the punched cards era.
I placed the image of Archimedes here as a symbol of an incorporeal spirit of discoveries soaring through the time and mysteriously expressing himself on different media. In this work I try to highlight the art value of a punched card as a piece of abstract figurative minimalism.
