It's days like this where, after pursuing storms all day long, it pays to never give up on trying to capture something extraordinary. On June 26, 2022, my spirit was nearly defeated until I saw the smallest of storms form over Sahuarita, Arizona. The sun had already set and I wasn't sure if the storm had enough strength to produce lightning, but seeing this foreground of beautiful saguaro cacti in the Sonoran Desert gave me reason enough to stop and try. Within a few minutes the first of three giant bolts rained out of the sky in perfect form creating this scene. I heed my instincts more than ever when I think there's even a last chance to succeed in creating compositions like this.
