This collection wouldn’t be complete without a detail shot of this specific, memorable wave.

The first time I walked down to see this beach, I couldn’t see the waves until I got to the sand cliff where the beach dropped off. When I finally did see, I literally froze.

Loud, furious, thick. This heavy slab would rise and rise and then abruptly fall with a force that smashed into the sandbar and reverberated upon itself. I had never seen anything like it.

After standing there for a few minutes with my jaw open, I looked up to see humpback whales breaching and breathing in the distance. I was so overcome by these waves and by the presence of humpback whales that my body started shaking.

A wave forever ingrained in my brain & heart.
