This was a moment I'll never forget. After consuming a hefty pie for lunch at the Lochinver Larder, a friend and I decided to go and shoot this iconic scene before a hike to a wild camp later in the evening. The cloud was low and heavy and we had no sight of conditions to the west as we waited in the gloom and cold. As sunset approached we were about to call it a day and head off to our evening hike when the sun burst through and illuminated the landscape before our eyes. It's moments like these that are fuel for landscape photographers, dream moments when the planets align and everything falls into place. If you are unfamiliar with this scene, the mountain shrouded in cloud is Suilven, an iconic mountain of North West Scotland.
