The only orbital launch of a Soviet spacecraft Buran ("Blizzard") orbiter occurred on 15 November 1988 from the Baikonur Cosmodrome launch pad.
It was the first spaceplane in the world to perform an uncrewed flight, including landing in fully automatic mode.
After the first flight of a Buran spacecraft, the program was canceled due to changing of the economic system from Communism to Capitalism.
