The Makorori Lookout is one of my favourite local spots to shoot the Milky Way. Dark, scenic and accessible - this place sums up the East Cape by day or by night . This image represents the most detailed capture of the Milky Way core that I've ever managed. Shot with an 85mm lens - stacked and stitched - it's over 100 photos merged together. This was all shot sequentially from a single position over a 90 minute period. When I started out the sky was a faint pink & by the time I had finished it was true black.
