A white British woman I’m of a multifaceted tapestry woven from diverse roots. My grandmother was South African, where Dutch Afrikaans & direct Indian heritage converge. Named after my great grandmother, I carry deep cultural connection. Despite physical distance, my heart resonates with the Cape Town region, the cradle of my family. My family's journey through the times of apartheid is a bittersweet story. There's pain in the retelling, for they witnessed the injustices & the struggles of that era, but maintaining humility & compassion. It's in their stories that I find the essence of my heritage—the ability to stand tall when the world around you is in chaos, to be kind &accepting across boundaries. My heritage isn't just history; it's an integral part of who I am. Through my art, I aim to honor the struggles &privilege of that history & convey stories beyond my own that display &connect us with diverse humanity.
My grandmothers name was Grace. A fitting name for the life lived.
