In “Catedrales de Buenos Aires" Layla Pizarro explores photography and creative coding. Specifically, she employs the slit-scan effect, a technique with a rich history in both photography and film. In this project, she captures moments from her daily life in Buenos Aires, freezing a silent second in the noisy city dynamics.
What makes her work unique is the integration of creative code, which allows her to reinterpret and manipulate the captured moments. Through the slit-scan effect with the use of creative code, she transforms the rhythm of the city, giving rise to an imaginary architecture and a novel cityscape. Going beyond traditional photography, using p5js, Photoshop / Lightroom and artistic expression, she crafts a new, entangled perspective on the urban experience.
