Just after daybreak, the early morning light pours over lower Manhattan, Brooklyn, and New Jersey. As the eye continues upward through the frame we are drawn into the deep blue water of New York City's Upper Bay. On the right side of the bay are two small islands - The Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island. It's hard to believe that these islands that were such a part of many family's immigration stories could be missed when looking at this image. Perspective is everyting.
