During my time in Palestine, I would wander to the Old City everyday as I walked from the Mount of Olives to a coffeeshop in Jerusalem. The walk was miles long, but it was more a wandering expedition than an A to B destination. The Damascus Gate entrance to the Old City fascinated me. Filled with vibrant life and activity, it serves as the main entrance to the Arab bazaar in the Muslim Quarter. I just happened to catch two IDF soldiers in a window above the entrance, which made for a poignant metaphor.
