with his birthday
The event features musical performances from top music acts from Nigeria and guest appearances from internationally acclaimed musicians and personalities. The one-week-long event which is held annually at the New Afrika Shrine in Ikeja, attracts visitors from different countries and has thus been considered as an official tourist destination by the Lagos State Government
Who is Fela?
Fela Aníkúlápó Kútì (born 15 October 1938– died 2 August 1997) aged 58, he is known as Abàmì Ẹ̀dá, he was a Nigerian musician, composer, political activist, and a Pan-Africanist. He is regarded as the King of Afrobeat, a Nigerian music genre that combines West African music with American funk and jazz.
