The inexhaustible search for self transcendence

Eye to eye with the sky
I’ve come again to live and die

As I tread this circle round’ and round’
My eyelids close as the sun goes down

Just to open wide upon its rise
Past the dreams of distant skies

I only long to forget myself
Shed this skin in which I’ve dwelt

And carry on the wings of the wind
My truest self found within

At every endeavor’s expected end
It is forever myself I long to transcend
