I moved to my new house. The first early morning I was to go to work (I used to teach), I saw the boy next door standing in front of the Apartment complex’s entrance awaiting the school bus, he was sleepy yet trying to stay awake. This became a daily routine for me and him. The only thing we had in common was the sleepiness and a hello and greeting we exchanged for the sake of being courteous. Those days I was reading the Kafka’s Metamorphosis book, I was anticipating for the boy next door and I to turn into beetles, the chances of which were slim as another part of my life was art which was my savior from the daily routines. But the boy next door was hypnotized. The universal and global hypnosis that has turned everyone into machines. After a while I decided to paint a portrait of the hypnotized boy next door. The boy next door with those sleepy eyes he was trying so hard to keep open.
